Vicky Barker
Legal Director
Vicky Barker is CWLC’s Legal Director and manages the Law Center’s legal work. She engages in impact litigation and policy initiatives focusing on gender discrimination in employment and education with an emphasis on eliminating barriers that contribute to poverty among women and girls.
Ms. Barker has worked extensively to enforce Title IX, with a particular emphasis on eliminating discrimination against girls in high school athletics programs. She is currently class counsel in Ollier v. Sweetwater Union High School District, a Title IX class action lawsuit seeking equal athletic facilities, treatment and benefits for girl athletes at Castle Park High School in Chula Vista. In 2007, she was named by the Daily Journal as one of California’s Top Women Litigators.
Prior to joining the Law Center, Ms. Barker represented workers and their unions in all aspects of employment matters, including labor law and employment discrimination litigation.
Ms. Barker is a former Vice President and Board Member of the YWCA of the USA and the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles. Ms. Barker earned her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law and her B.A. in political science from the University of California, San Diego.
