Roe v. Wade: 31 Years Strong But Under Constant Attack

Reproductive Justice
CWLC advocates for the reproductive health and rights of women and girls in the courts and the community. Reproductive justice will not be achieved until women and girls have the physical, mental, political, economic, and social well-being and resources to make healthy decisions about their bodies, sexuality and reproduction. Not only is the constitutional right to abortion under Roe vs. Wade endangered by action on the federal and state level, many women currently have limited, if any, access to abortion services. Many poor and low-income women in the United States are denied access to reproductive health services and information for a variety of reasons, including abortion funding bans, bans on the provision of abortion services by government health care facilities, a shortage of abortion providers, and parental involvement laws.
To address the many challenges women face including prenatal care, STD education and prevention, access to gynecological screenings and the right to choose, CWLC has developed educational programs accessible to women throughout the state of California.
Reproductive Rights Enforcement Center
California has the strongest reproductive rights laws in the nation. However, these rights mean little to large populations of California women due to the lack of reproductive health information, dearth of culturally and linguistically appropriate reproductive health services, and a growing incidence of HIV/AIDS and reproductive cancers among women of color. Through the RREC, CWLC is collaborating with grassroots community based organizations to develop and disseminate culturally and linguistically appropriate reproductive health and rights educational materials with the goal of empowering women to advocate for themselves, individually and as a community.
