The California Women’s Law Center (CWLC) supports California Senate Bill 592 authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva.
SB 592 will makes strides toward eliminating domestic violence in California by requiring schools to provide education on healthy relationships and adolescent relationship abuse and incorporate plans responding to incidents of abuse in their school safety plan.
This bill would expand upon current law, the Interagency School Safety Demonstration Act of 1985, among other things, requiring school districts and county offices of education to be responsible for the overall development of comprehensive school safety plans for its schools operating kindergarten or any of grades 1 to 12.
