On Tuesday, July 31, 2018, we discussed the rights of pregnant and parenting employees and students in California’s schools, including an overview of pregnancy leave rights and legally required accommodations for pregnancy and lactation. We also provided an update on our “ABC’s of Breastfeeding” Report Card, originally released in 2015, including improvements that have been made in pregnancy and lactation accommodation policies at the 81 Los Angeles County school districts we worked with. Awareness of legal protections for pregnant and lactating students in our schools is vital to ensuring they have an equal opportunity to succeed.
