Assembly Bill 2512: Pupil Rights: Gender Equity: After School Athletic Programs

The California Women’s Law Center (CWLC) supports California State Assembly Bill 2512 authored by Assemblymember Susan Bonilla.

AB 2512 will strengthen Title IX enforcement and redefine measurements of student achievement and success by incorporating Title IX’s mandate for gender equity to the Academic Performance Index (API) and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

CWLC supports AB 2512 because it will help all students reach their full academic potential by requiring educational environments that are free from all forms of sex discrimination and harassment. AB 2512 will help eliminate this persistent discrimination against girls by adding Title IX requirements into the API and authorizing Local Education Agencies do the same when assessing school climates in their LCAP.

AB 2512 WAS VETOED BY THE GOVERNOR ON 9/27/14.

EMAIL THE GOVERNOR: Let the Governor know you supported AB 2512 and encourage him to sign future legislation addressing this issue.
