In 2018, CWLC participated in thirty-three amicus briefs addressing a variety of legal issues affecting justice and equality for women and girls. This summer CWLC filed a brief with the Supreme Court of the United States in support of California’s FACT Act, a law pertaining to the limited and harmful practices that “crisis pregnancy centers” in California promote. We also filed several briefs in the California Supreme Court and California Court of Appeal in support of domestic violence victims, and a brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in support of a campus sexual assault victim. The other issues addressed by the briefs included LGBTQ employment discrimination, sex discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, and transgender veterans.
CWLC remains active in our amicus participation and will continue to submit and sign on to briefs addressing the most important and pressing legal matters for women and girls.
