California Women Veterans Legal Collaborative (2016)

The California Women Veterans Legal Collaborative is an active partnership between the California Women’s Law Center and the Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center to provide coordinated, statewide legal assistance to female veterans who were victims of sexual assault or violence while serving in the military (termed Military Sexual Trauma or MST).  Women veterans with a history of MST often have multiple, interconnected legal and medical needs that require a coordinated response.  The goal of the Collaborative is to strengthen the system of care for these women by providing legal services that address myriad legal issues arising from, or related to, their sexual assaults. The Collaborative serves a diverse group of individuals including active duty service members, homeless women veterans, women veteran advocates and leaders, legislators, and members of the legal community, including judges and attorneys.
