The California Women’s Law Center opposes AB 2775, authored by Assemblyman James Gallagher, which would require health care providers to post information that would direct women to crisis pregnancy centers.

Crisis pregnancy centers have a documented record of spreading medical misinformation and deceiving women. These centers have falsely linked abortion with breast cancer, infertility, mental health problems and even death. Furthermore, these centers are not legitimate health care facilities. Women have faced dangerous health problems because they visited a crisis pregnancy center that was not adequately equipped to give proper prenatal care. Demanding that any medical facility provide information directing women to crisis pregnancy centers that will lie to them and potentially endanger their lives is unsafe and unethical.
