Gender Equity in Sports During Covid-19: A Review

Girls and young women who play sports benefit in many ways: they get better grades, earn higher wages later in life, and have better health outcomes.

Almost 20 years ago, California enacted the Fair Play in Community Sports Act, requiring local youth sports programs to provide equal opportunities, treatment, and benefits to girls and boys in athletic programs. Despite this, participants in girls’ sports at the local level continue to face discrimination.

In addition, Title IX was passed nearly 50 years ago and requires gender equity in K-12 and collegiate sports, yet significant inequities in girls’ athletics persist.

Please join us for a webinar on January 21, 2021 from 12-1pm, which will summarize Title IX’s intentions and impacts. One hour of MCLE credit is available. To view this webinar, click here.
