Human Rights Day 2019

Today CWLC celebrates Human Rights Day, which commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948.

This Declaration was one of the first major achievements of the UN, outlining rights that recognize the “inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family.” The Declaration is one of the most translated documents in the world, available in more than 500 languages.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was created to empower all people and lay the foundation for individuals to stand up for their rights and the rights of others. CWLC is proud to advocate for the legal rights of women and girls, and we encourage you to join us in recognizing Human Rights Day by sharing on social media using #StandUp4HumanRights and participating in this important conversation.
