Intersectional Discrimination in California: New Statutory Protections Across Employment, Education, and Public Accommodations

California has enacted new legislation expressly recognizing and prohibiting intersectional discrimination across multiple areas of state law. This one-hour MCLE program will examine recent amendments to California Government Code § 12926, California Civil Code § 51, and California Education Code § 200 and California Education Code § 210.2, which clarify that discrimination based on the combination of two or more protected characteristics is unlawful. This program is designed for legal aid and other plaintiffs’
attorneys and advocates seeking a comprehensive understanding of California’s evolving approach to intersectional discrimination across employment, public accommodations, and education.
