Speaker Series with David Codell

David Codell is a Los Angeles-based attorney whose private practice focuses on constitutional, business, and entertainment litigation. He represents clients in state and federal courts, both at the trial-court and appellate level, and he has secured victories in numerous cases with historic rulings advancing civil rights.

Distinguished Guest Speaker Series 2015 – Incarcerated Women and Girls

On September 2nd, 2015, CWLC’s Distinguished Guest Speaker Series examined California’s corrections system and the unique needs of incarcerated women and girls. The discussion focused on ways we can work together to address some of the realities of incarceration and ensure people re-entering the community after serving their sentence have the resources they need to not return to prison and lead successful lives.

Distinguished Guest Speaker Series: Jackie Lacey

On March 19th, O’Melveny & Meyers, LLP, generously hosted an evening with Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey. She spoke before an engaged audience and argued for the expansion of alternative sentencing courts in order to help address prison and jail overcrowding in California.

David Codell is a nationally respected litigator who recently became Constitutional Litigation Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), after having served as Visiting Legal Director of the Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law’s think tank focusing on sexual orientation and gender identity law and policy.
