CWLC’s Amy Poyer spoke on a panel at BreastfeedLA’s summit “Taking Action to Reduce Infant Feeding Inequities in L.A. county: Our Collective Responsibility.” This discussion addressed the barriers and inequities many women face in accessing prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care as well as breastfeeding and lactation support.
CWLC and the Feminist Majority Foundation hosted an informative and important conversation about the Supreme Court and the direction of the federal judiciary on August 21, 2018 with panelists Michele Goodwin, Robert Bradley Sears, Amanda Hollis-Brusky, and moderator Betsy Butler.
CWLC and Professor Michele Goodwin presented an important webinar about the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent NIFLA v. Becerra decision regarding California’s FACT Act. We addressed the reasons the FACT Act was implemented, its application to “crisis pregnancy centers” in California, the Supreme Court’s ruling, and the future of reproductive rights in the wake of this decision.
The #WeAreWomen campaign kicked off in 2015, selling out the Staples Center for the first time in Los Angeles Sparks franchise history. At this fourth annual event, the Sparks recognized inspiring women in Los Angeles. CWLC is proud to sponsor this event for the fourth year in a row.

CWLC was proud to co-sponsor University of California, Irvine School of Law’s “2018 Women, Law, & Technology Symposium” on April 20-21. The 2018 symposium on Women, Law, and Technology, brought together renowned scholars, activists, tech engineers, and policy makers to examine the ways in which technologies enhance the lives of women and girls, but also curate the spaces for sabotage, harassment, sexualization, and even the gendering of technology.
CWLC’s Senior Staff Attorney Amy Poyer was a panelist on the Tackling Inequality in Public Schools, a program that was part of the month-long series of public education classes and continuing legal education programs held at LA Law Library in celebration of African American History Month 2018.
CWLC’s Executive Director Betsy Butler participated in a talkback after the screening of the film Political Animals. This film was part of University of California, Irvine School of Law’s Reproductive Justice and LGBTQA Film Festival that began on February 1, 2018 and ran through March 29, 2018.
